The first quarter has ended recently and the next one will start soon. Thanks to my university's L-cafe I have been able to travel to some places around the Okayama area. For Japanese language classes, since I have been placed in the lower levels, I feel that my foundation is pretty good and getting better as I learn things again, hopefully for next semester though I will be able to jump a level.

So I came to Japan almost a month ago, September 25, and have done quite a bit since then. So I'll just do a big overview of everything so far.
The flight was long, of course, and I didn't get much sleep. I first arrived in Tokyo and had to go through customs, which was not fun. I would recommend going to another country first then your final destination because I barely had time before my next flight. So I had customs, then trying to find my terminal was horrible, and then security and everything took away my whole layover time. Next I flew to Okayama station which was considerably smaller, which I loved. I took a taxi to the dorms, signed in, and got a little settled. Some random stuff:
This week and next we will be doing our final presentations in class. It is a summary of everything that we went over in class this semester. The power point included information on the LESCANT photos, culture and language learning strategies, our university of choice, prospective classes, goals and things to do before leaving. After this we are done, hope i'm ready for Japan.
In class this week we finished up on posting our second set of LESCANT photos. I can't really tell if they are better than the previous set. We also started working on our final presentation for the class. this includes a bit of everything we did during the semester such as: this journal, LESCANT pictures, learning strategies, goals, and things to do before leaving. The last topic we discussed in class was questions we have for senpai who came back from studying abroad. looking at some of them is really interesting. They range from normal questions, like what to bring, to randomness, such as about there not being stick deodorant or the location of the penis festival.
Finally, today I was able to turn in my application online for Okayama University. I gathered up everything they needed this morning and just turned it it. Now I have to wait for them to accept me and turn in my health and flight information to CSUMB. Just want to get it all done and not have to stress about it during my finals. For the past two weeks in class everyone took the STAMP (STAndards-based Measurement of Proficiency) Test. There are four sections to this test reading, writing, listening, and speaking. This test is to judge our Japanese language abilities. I had to answer more questions than last time, so this might mean that I did better than before. We will find out our scores later, hopefully I got at least intermediate low in some sections.
