In today's class we learned about language learning strategies that we would be able to use while in Japan. They were about the different types of language and ways of learning them. By different types of language I mean verbal and non-verbal. This section tells us a variety of ways that could help us in learning a new language. in class, we also compared our result, pre-study abroad group, to the Japanese students, current study abroad group. It was interesting to see the differences not just because of culture, but what actually help people when in the new country.

Today we talked about this journal and what to write while in Japan. We had to write out some prompt questions for journal entries for our beginning, middle, and ending experiences . While there I need to write out a journal entree at least once a month to keep updated and retain memories of my study abroad stay.
In today's class we learned about some cultural learning strategies that we would be able to use while in Japan. They were split up into three groups; pre-departure, in-country, and post-study abroad. They seemed mostly about acceptance of other cultures or how to deal with culture shock. Not very easy to grasp when I have never even left the country before, but maybe they will be more helpful once I go to Japan.

This week, in planning for studying abroad at Okayama University, I picked out possible classes I would be taking for the school year. Deciding classes for a year is hard enough as it is, I also had to cross reference classes I need for the Exchange Program Okayama (EPOK) and what I needed for CSUMB. The EPOK program has a set number and type of courses that a student needs to go there, such as their mandatory EPOK project and Study of Japan classes. That, plus every class basically being world one unit, made picking classes difficult. Now that i'm done picking, I can look forward to the chosen classes while i'm there. Here are some examples of classes I will be taking:
